How to Support

The number one thing you can do today to support knightsofliberty is to get involved with the issue. Support HR 1966 "The Megan Meier Cyberbullying Prevention Act"

Support most recent laws for cyber vicitimization such as HR 1966 "The Megan Meier Cyberbullying Prevention Act"

 Information on HR1966

Megan Meier is the girl you may have heard about on the news who commited suicide, and now who's family will forever be damaged. It is a case in which the ignorance of creating any internet law of subtance would favor of "benefits" that it would provide.

Instead, the defendant was prosecuted under a rarely used, obsure law that would involve using "terms of service" of a website against her. As a result, the law found her guilty only of a misdemeanor. The case is now being reviewed by a judge to determine whether to drop the case based upon the method in which it was prosecuted.

The main challenge for the case was the interpertation used did not relate laws we currently have and as a result it did not qaulify for interpertation of the law for the victim due to the medium or platform on which it was held: The Internet. This combined with interpretation that current law would not cover this activity due to the "medium" not being specified within the law. Rather than the interpretation that current laws already cover the medium. Despite the fact that we can recite many other laws and cases that seem specific to covering this activity.

As a result, many legal circles as well as americans have voiced their disagreement with the method in which the case was prosecuted and this lack of basic protection for citizens.

The law proposed in the link provided above is being proplled by United States Congresswoman Linda Sanchez (California 39th District) and has many other supporters. While the bill does not clarify the effects to many who have suffered from the lack of protection. It is the best available first step in progress to confirm and verify United States law includes cyber victimization for all people alike just as we deter the same types of crimes off the internet. We commend Linda Sanchez and her supporters for her love of peace and the truth.  Her inititive is a real example of a true American hero in action.

Its one thing to voice your opinion. Its also one thing to voice a rebuttel to an opinion. Its entirely another issue when an organization/'s or person to follow someone around on and off the internet for 10 years posting a lies about them over and over again thousands of times.  Or someone who is impersonating someone for the purpose of gaining further information to cause emotional distress to a victim. We all as human beings understand which is believed to be a crime.

The internet must be understood by our legislators and politicians to be a powerful tool for the internet predator, just as it can be a powerful tool for all of the "benefits" it provides. And to aknowledge there is no in between when it comes to the definition of law presented. It also does not require any change of behavior in the majority of people or the average person, as most of us do not do this. When it comes to human threat, employment issues, economic effects, social effects, health effects and saftey of individuals. This is obviously a first priority for everyone. If this activity can occur to any one individual, it can occur to all of us. And when you mix in organizations using it for money, there is no rational dispute. With even one oppressed, who is really free?

If you really want to support KnightsOfLiberty.com, more than offering financial support, Act immediately.  In the future if we see the need for proposed services and feel the site worthy of donations to grow its operations then that may be something we would solicit. But now, Notify your representative and those closest to you that you do not want this problem hitting your block.

There are too many organizations advocating for causes that little of the money they donate goes to helping what they are advocating for. This has contributed to  a vast lack of progress in our country as millions and millions of dollars cycle through while accomplishing nothing. Our goal is to get the message out for cyber victims and cyber victimization and to present these issues to people seeking that information. And to gauge public interest for proposed services and if there is the need to make those resources available.

If KOL is a valuable resource, we will assure a direct connection to any services we would sell in the future or donations we would recieve, would reflect transarency to the public and would directly effect Cyber Victims. In that event, we would also provide an open accounting to the public with a direct report showing actual cyber victims helped. Again, for this to happen we need to hear your stories, recommendations and support. Operations@knightsofliberty.com

We must govern technology in the same way we have governed what can be broadcast on a T.V. set. This ignorance allowed a little girl as well as an American family to be destroyed. In this case the child was the victim of an internet predator. But what if the victim of the internet predator is the parent? We then have Economic, Employment, Social and Health from Cyber Victimization that utlimately will also effect the children, who are not even the victim.
